Title Unrelated: Lost Without Hairties

Welcome to "Once More, With Feminists!" The title is an homage to the musical episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, but don't tell Fox that. They might sue. And, actually, the episode title "Once More, With Feeling" is a common phrase in the theatre bizz. So, they ripped it from common phraseology, we ripped it from them. So, by the transitive property, we took it from common phraseology, and hence, it's public knowledge and we don't have to cite it! But, we figured, hey! Buffy is a feminist in most ways (unless you look at race politics... Sunnydale is surprisingly *white* and unless you look at class politics, because it is also shockingly middle/upper class).

I really want to allow this blog to be flexible, and discuss issues that are current, and important. Near and dear to my heart is the LGBT community, and the tendency of bi-erasure. This bi-erasure is a tool used by both the straight and queer community to erase the bisexual identity in favor of favoring their agenda's. The straight community uses bi's who choose opposite sex partners to say "look, these were teh gays, now they iz teh straights." And the gays, who passionately say you cannot choose your sexuality say that bi's are either gay or straight, and can't make up their mind. Because bisexuality does not fit into this polarity.

Another thing I wish to discuss is the media. Because they think this is what all females should look like. And forget that this, this, and a plethora of other shapes, sizes, colors, ect, is also beautiful. They also think that this is the only real way for women to succeed in life. (please read the blog that correlates to the above picture too ^^).

A pet issue of mine is domestic violence. It's "glorification" (see: Chris Brown, Charles Sheen), and how it's really no big deal. And while some places are taking steps to increase the legal penalties and prevent abuse where possible, our nation still lacks the necessary means of combating abuse and violence. It does not help that some places (please see a plethora of other commercials from the superbowl that "jokingly" encourage men to hit people) innocuously encourage violence. Or that when a home team losses, the domestic violence rate in that city rises.

So, once again, welcome to Once More, With Feminists!!
